You can't say that I don't suffer for my art. Yesterday evening, my lovely wife picked me up from work, to spare me a walk home in the rain/sleet. I arrived at the passenger door of our Escape and swung it open to get in – and simultaneously swung my head into the edge of the door. What a complete klutz! Once I had staunched the profuse bleeding (why do head wounds bleed in complete disproportion to their actual severity?), I had the privilege of experiencing ER medicine first hand. A bunch of stitches, plus glue, plus steri-strips. Plus a nice tetanus shot. Not really my idea of a great evening, but I did have to remind myself that my small problem was several orders of magnitude less than those of about 98% of the people in hospital that evening. And I did get a photographic opportunity while I was cooling my heels, so it wasn't all bad.

(I also joked with the guy sewing my my scalp... asked him if he could remove the microchip that had been implanted by the aliens, while he was rooting around in there. Not sure if he was planning on checking me into a different ward after that...)
