trapped

Why is it that some people - some countries, even - never seem to get a break?

Prior to the earthquake, Haiti was already a tragedy. Filled with grinding poverty, random violence, environmental degradation. Desperation. Now Haiti is a tragedy heaped upon a tragedy. It's people are trapped in a situation that I'm sure none of us can readily imagine.

That country is particularly close to our hearts, as our little nephew was born there and spent his first year there. His biological mother and her family are from Port-au-Prince. The orphanage that took care of him, also near Port-au-Prince, is in a crisis.

In addition, over 1400 Canadians are still unaccounted for.

If you pray, please pray. If you can give, please do. Here are some organizations that you may want to think of supporting - each one of them was working in Haiti prior to the quake.

The Mennonite Central Committee:

Food for the Hungry:

The latter organization has more than a dozen in-country workers still unaccounted for.
